Bigman is the senior artist at Phat Tats, he has been featured in Status Ink Magazine and is a nationally renowned award winning artist. He has been tattooing for 20+ years. He is originally from Houston and moved to Corpus Christi 24 years ago to work at Wild Side Tattoo and Skin Illusions, only then to make a home at Phat Tats.
He specializes in color realism but is very well rounded with all art styles and mediums. He's a very family oriented man and likes to keep the environment at the studio lively, fun, and interactive. We like to keep our work here fun and make sure we stay family and not just a group of individuals that work together. His other passion besides tattooing is his antique cars and trucks. He founded a rat rod club called The Rejects and you can often find them gathered at the studio. He loves his clients, family, and friends.
Stephen McDaniel "Lunchbox"
Stephen is our youngest tattoo artist, but don't let his age mislead you, he started tattooing in 2008 when he was 10 years old after his father started to apprentice him, and has grown into a great tattoo artist! He recently started working with us full time since graduating high school and is now currently attending college and tattooing full time! He enjoys doing neo-traditional and new-school style tattoos. Stephen is talented in many realms of not only fine arts but academics, welding, gaming, and PC building as well! He enjoys tattooing, gaming, graffiti art, skateboarding down ocean drive, and Star Wars!
Gabe Herrera has been an artist almost his entire life, and got his start through graffiti. When he was 13 he met Bigman and after Gabe showed him his artwork he got to tattooing that very same day. Over 20 years later, and after working at different shops Gabe and Bigman's paths crossed again. After getting discouraged from applying to our studio while we were looking for an artist Gabes wife reminded him of his goals and what happened that day he met Bigman so many years ago and the impact he has had on Gabe. Since then Gabe has proved to be such a great addition to our family! He enjoys painting, mini trucks, graffiti, New School tattoos, being a great dad to his two boys, and juice!
Cassandra Keel "Gizmo"
Cassandra Keel has been tattooing since 2009 and is also a U.S. Marine Veteran and Mother. Before moving to Texas she worked in New Hampshire and California. She was working in Beaumont until Hurricane Harvey arrived and after the damage she moved to Corpus Christi and sought us out. She specializes in Neo Traditional and Black and Grey Realism but just like all of our artists she can tattoo any style! She is also an experienced mechanic, makeup geek, cartoon lover and a gamer!
Daniel Charles is from Alice, Texas and has been tattooing since 2007 after he started hanging out at a local shop in Alice while he worked for the news paper company. Before he knew it he was apprenticing and doing solid tattoos. After some time he owned his own studio in Alice. You will sometimes hear stories about how Daniel remembers seeing Bigman during his Pizza Inn days when they were teens growing up in the same town. Daniel enjoys writing and designing his comic book series, teaching his son to draw, painting, and painterly style freehand tattoos with a focus on dark art.
Sabastian is a Corpus Christi native and has been tattooing for 16 years. He specializes in black and grey and chicano styles of tattooing but is a well rounded artist that tattoos portraits, color, neo traditional and realism. Conejo is a painter, tattoo artist, and family man of God. He celebrates his culture and diverse personality through his tattoos and is continually evolving.
Buda Godoy started tattooing in 2003, and started his professional apprenticeship in 2017 with us! Buda has been a family friend of Bigmans since 1994. He studied as an art major, was a DJ, promotor, specialized in culinary arts- and is now our designated Phat Tats Chef! He enjoys tattooing all styles in color, with the exception of portraits, and outside of work he enjoys being a father to his daughter and new born son.
Sammi started her tattooing journey at the age of 14 but after becoming a piercing artist her tattooing took a backseat until 2018. When her dad Bigman got sick she made the decision to step up and follow her dads path as it was time to take tattooing seriously. Fortunately, what started as a business decision has now grown into a passion. She now tattoos select designs and styles as she is growing her craft and improving her skills. She enjoys tattooing minimalistic, black work, and color styles.
